Bellefonte's Spring Creek is known best for its trout fishing, but kayakers love to start their journey downtown, too./

Despite its world-renowned trout fishing stream, easy access to hiking and biking trails and abundance of beautiful parks, Bellefonte, Pa., isn’t the first place that comes to mind when thinking about outdoor adventure.

The organizers of Bellefonte’s first Outdoor Adventure Expo are planning to change that. The one-day expo is meant to highlight the community’s easily accessible natural assets, while showcasing regional vendors, nonprofits and businesses that specialize in outdoors and recreation-related products.

The event is planned for noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 9, in Talleyrand Park in the heart of Bellefonte. Outdoor lovers of all ages should come to this event, which will feature exhibits and demonstrations, from fly fishing to camping, to mountain biking, climbing, kayaking and more.

Where to stay

Bellefonte is more widely known for its Victorian charm and beautiful bed and breakfasts. Bed and breakfast options include: Our Fair Lady, Reynolds Mansion, The Queen, and Riffles and Runs, all within walking distance of the Outdoor Adventure Expo, and all that downtown Bellefonte has to offer.
