If you’ve got a hankering for country music, you’re gonna want to boot up for what’s coming Aug. 23-25 in southeastern Pennsylvania. It’s the Citadel Country Spirit USA Music Festival, featuring some top names in country music.
Little Big Town, a multi-award-winning vocal quartet, and chart-topping Billy Currington are among headliners for the festival in Chester County’s Brandywine Valley. The event takes place on the green rolling hills of the 33-acre Ludwig’s Corner Horse Show Grounds at 5 Nantmeal Road, 135 miles from Washington, D.C.
Not only can you enjoy top-notch entertainers from across the country, you can interact with like-minded fans.
“It’s really fun to experience the music with other people,” said Debora Mitchell, who promotes the festival.
Last year’s inaugural festival, which attracted 22,000 attendees from 28 states and Canada, drew accolades such as “wildly successful” and “phenomenal” from organizers.
“We couldn’t have been more proud or pleased to align with this tremendous new event,” said Susan Hamley, of the Chester County Conference & Visitors Bureau, which will host the festival for the second year. Impact Entertainment is the festival’s producer, and Citadel, one of the largest credit unions in the Philadelphia area, is the title sponsor.
The 2019 festival will feature 20 artists on two stages. The top artists will appear on the GMC Sierra Stage and up-and-comers will perform on the Citadel Rising Star Stage.
Currington, known for such hits as “Must Be Doin’ Something Right” and “People are Crazy,” headlines the Friday lineup, which also stars Lee Brice, Lauren Alaina (2011 “American Idol” runner-up), Devin Dawson and Adam Doleac.
The Saturday headliner is Little Big Town, whose most recent No. 1 single is “Better Man.” Brothers Osborne and Lanco also will perform.
Announcement of the Sunday headliner is pending, although the appearances of the Eli Young Band and Chris Lane have been confirmed.
There’s a lot more to the festival beyond music. The mix includes a variety of vendors offering food, beer, wine, spirits, shopping and fun things to do, such as a rodeo-related activity and a Marine course.
For the second year, a portion of ticket sales will be donated to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.
