Craft beverage lovers can find festivals across the Mid-Atlantic to visit this season.

It’s become a sort of weekend ritual that on Sundays, my husband and I venture out to explore breweries in D.C., Maryland and Virginia. But on May 11, the breweries will come to us for the Maryland Craft Beer Festival held on the beautiful Carroll Creek Linear Park in historic downtown Frederick.

The festival is part strategy (with more than 40 breweries pouring more than 200 beers, there’s no way to try them all) and whole lot of fun. It’s always great to see what kind of specialty beers local breweries are going to offer at the festival and a chance to try brews from breweries we wouldn’t normally be able to get to on our Sunday brewery day trip.

If you haven’t ordered your tickets yet, order soon! The event typically sells out and VIP tickets are already gone. Want to learn more? Head to mdcraftbeerfestival.com.

Speaking of craft beer festivals, the third annual Summer Craft Beverage Expo is coming to my community of Bellefonte, Pa.! It’s planned for Sunday, June 16, from 3 to 6 p.m. — the perfect way to celebrate Father’s Day with a dad that loves a good brew.

It’s hosted by the Central PA Tasting Trail, which consists of 12 craft beverage producers in Centre County, Pa.: four microbreweries, four wineries, two distilleries and two cideries. They’ll all be at the expo, alongside special guests and beverage-related vendors. Oh, and don’t forget the live music and food trucks!

Tickets are available at centralpatastingtrail.com.

There are craft beverage festivals planned across the entire Mid-Atlantic this season. Don’t forget that you can always check out the Recreation News online calendar to plan a trip to visit one in advance.
