It’s an old adage: “Timing is everything,” and timing couldn’t be better for Howard County, Maryland’s Restaurant Weeks. From July 12 through 25, celebrate the light at the end of the pandemic tunnel by enjoying “Summer Menus, Big Flavors” at more than 30 participating restaurants throughout the county.
“It’s a celebration of the culinary talents of area restaurants,” explained Crystal Abrom of Visit Howard County. “Catch up with loved ones and old friends over a meal while supporting local businesses!”
This year’s Howard County Restaurant Weeks & Craft Beverages focuses on supporting local restaurants. The two-week opportunity to explore local food, drink and community showcases the county’s prized culinary and craft beverage scene. Participating chefs, waitstaff and bartenders will create unique meals, drinks and menus that present the mastery of their craft. They work hard year round to take care of their customers, and during restaurant weeks, they know that their talent and culinary achievement are on display.
Howard County’s diverse population has fostered a diversity of restaurants ranging from haute cuisine to roadside diners, barbeque stands to bulgogi. New this year, Korean American restaurants, representative of the cuisine found along the county’s Korean Way, will participate in Restaurant Weeks. Regardless of taste or budget, there is a gastronomic adventure for everyone.
During Restaurant Weeks, participating restaurants offer specially priced multi-course meals. Menus can range from $15 (or less) for a two-course lunch, to $45 for a fine four-course dinner. Restaurant Weeks present an excellent opportunity to try restaurants and cafes, bakeries and distilleries that might be new experiences. Howard County held its first Restaurant Weeks in 2008, and has seen its popularity grow. Initially designed to give locally owned and operated restaurants a boost during their slower seasons, that reason has taken on new importance after the past year.
As an added incentive, Visit Howard County is giving away more than $1,000 in restaurant gift cards. For a chance at winning, follow Visit Howard County @visithocomd on social media, and post a picture taken at one of the participating restaurants using the hashtag #hocorwcb2021. The more posts entered, the better the chance of winning. Winners will be announced on Visit Howard County social media pages.
During Restaurant Weeks & Craft Beverages from July 12 through 25, call ahead to determine the need for reservations and to discuss any dietary concerns. And, as you dine through the weeks, please remember to tip the bartenders and waitstaff. They work just as hard as the chefs to ensure memorable dining experiences.
