Editor Aug 2021

I’m celebrating my 30th birthday this month — entering a new decade and a new life phase, if you will. So it’s fitting that this month I’m writing my last editor’s note for Recreation News.

My 20s brought me more experiences than I could have ever imagined: The opportunity to grow my career in digital media and work in print media simultaneously, the opportunity to become a part of this magazine and combine a passion for travel with a career, and the ability to write about the places and experiences I had along the way.

While I’m sad that this door is closing — I’m excited to see what this new space in my life opens up for me. More time with family? I hope so. More time to enjoy my local community? For sure. More travel? Absolutely.

Rounding up favorite Recreation News experiences:

  • Time spent in the Pennsylvania Great Outdoors region, especially staying in quaint B&Bs and small towns.
  • Camping across many Mid-Atlantic states with my husband and outgoing copyeditor Sean Yoder.
  • Trying as many breweries in our coverage area as possible.
  • Figuring out how to publish a travel magazine during a global pandemic.

You can revisit all of these experiences and stories in the story archive on RecreationNews.com.

You may still see me occasionally online on Recreation News and on our social media accounts, @liveplaydo. And when you do see me, it’s likely because I’ll be exploring.
