Week of June 30: Armenia and Catalonia are the two foreign lands featured in this year’s Smithsonian Folklife Festival on the Mall in Washington (June 27-July 1 and July 4-8).

During America’s bicentennial year of 1976, the Folklife Festival, which usually takes place over the course of two weeks, lasted three months.
