It’s the biggest news for snow sports enthusiasts in decades. The long troubled Timberline Four Seasons Resort, following bankruptcy and closure, was purchased almost a year ago by Perfect North Slopes, a truly class act in the industry with four decades of experience.
“We look forward to participating in the economic development of Tucker County and we’re excited to announce the significant investment in Timberline Mountain’s infrastructure that will take place this summer. I believe skiers and snowboarders next season are going to really enjoy the new experience on this very special mountain,” says Chip Perfect, President of Perfect North Slopes and CEO of Timberline Mountain.
Now called Timberline Mountain, the resort located in the Canaan Valley in Tucker County West Virginia offers 1,000 feet of vertical drop and slopes ranging from beginners to learn on to ones that delight and challenge experts. Your trip begins with positive changes that are immediately noticeable. RFID ticketing allows you to buy tickets online and touchless and later you can reload and update your lift ticket from your phone. Fast and efficient gate controlled entry removes delays getting started. Not high-tech? No worries, traditional lift tickets are available.
But the slopes and ticketing aren’t enough if you can’t efficiently get to the top quickly. Nobody likes standing in lift lines. The lifts — all of them — are new. There’s a Doppelmayr high-speed, six-passenger detachable lift. It’s fast, less than five minutes to the top, and moves a lot of people quickly. A new quad lift can to take you to the new terrain park and race hill at Mid-Mountain Crossroad. Even the beginners get a boost with a new conveyor system.
Skiers and boarders that rent will enjoy the new boots and snowboards among the 1600 rentals available. While the valley is blessed with a lot of snow, Mother Nature isn’t always the most reliable partner. To counter this, $2 million of new snowmaking equipment, including 70 tower-mounted fans will provide a better quality of snow that can be made in a wider variety of conditions. Once you begin the glide you’ll appreciate the grooming of the trails thanks to a new snow cat and all new grooming equipment.
After a day of skiing, delight in the lodge renovations. Some, like all new plumbing and wiring, will just keep everything dependable. Other renovations, like the 5,000 square feet of new space allows for COVID-friendly social distancing. Inside, all new seating keeps you comfy, new paint keeps things looking sharp, and a new kitchen and new food offerings — including craft beers and more variety on the menu will help restore the calories burned.
They still have the relatively new twenty room hotel onsite as well as a host of local rentals. They can be slopeside or within walking distance or a short drive to the slope. We’ve personally been big fans of Canaan Realty as they seem to have a large selection and know the area so well.
Also note, just a mile or so down the street is Canaan Valley Resort State Park. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, Canaan offers ice skating, snow tubing. Some may like the slower and less challenging ski slopes there. They also offer lodging options ranging from the hotel to cottages with up to four bedrooms, and cabins too.
